IKEA Scores High in Textile Industry Benchmark
Great news, IKEA scores high in textile industry benchmark! Last week, the global non-profit organisation Textile Exchange released their Material Change Insights Report. More than 170 global brands partake in the program and the result is a comprehensive overview and analysis of industry progress, tracking corporate alignment on global efforts like the Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) and the transition to circular economy. We are happy and proud to see that IKEA of Sweden is on the leader board in many material areas. High scores were found in areas such as recycled polyester, recycled cotton, preferred down, and Lyocell. “Changing the material agenda to a more sustainable one is one of the key prerequisites for a People & Planet Positive future. IKEA works hard to make a positive impact through the developments of the materials we use in our product range. The benchmark made by Textile Exchange shows good progress from many active brands in the textile industry and we are so happy to be a contributor to great change within the global material production and responsible raw material sourcing," Lena Julle, Category Area Manager for Textiles, at IKEA of Sweden. Konrad Grüss appointed Core Business Franchise manager and MD of Inter IKEA Systems B.V.
Inter IKEA Group 28 May 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT Congratulations Konrad! I am very happy to announce that Konrad Grüss will take on the role as Core Business Franchise manager and MD of Inter IKEA Systems B.V. starting 1 June 2020. Konrad has an extraordinary ability to connect people and business, and he has a genuine passion to continue to develop the role of IKEA franchisor. During the last two years he has successfully led the IKEA Expansion assignment and has a great knowledge and understanding of the IKEA and the CBF business. He has shown the ability to create clarity, bring people together and deliver on commitments. Since March, Konrad and the CBF Management team have done a very good job leading the organisation through very difficult times. This experience, together with his strong and valuesbased leadership, I am convinced that he is the right person for the job and will continue the journey we have started together in CBF. Konrad has rich experience from throughout the IKEA franchise system. His 25-year IKEA career started at IKEA Leipzig in 1994. Later he was part of successfully leading Growth with Impact globally and developing the METOD kitchen range. He also spent three years in Russia as Deputy Retail manager, where he led the commercial team and enabled growth across the market. Konrad joined Inter IKEA Systems in 2015 as Market Potential and Expansion Manager. Since the transformation to CBF in 2018, he has successfully led and supported build-up of the IKEA Expansion organisation and assignment. Konrad and his team have worked with franchisees to Inter IKEA Group 28 May 2020 INTERNAL COMMUNICATION - CONFIDENTIAL Delft, The Netherlands develop the strategic IKEA expansion plan for existing and new markets. They have also onboarded Falabella – a new franchisee – which will bring IKEA to Chile, Colombia and Peru. “I am very humbled and honoured to get the trust to lead the CBF assignment and direction, and continue to build a strong franchisor within the IKEA franchise system. I am fully committed to continue to work together with all of you on our common priorities and our ways of working that will enable us to deliver on our commitments as a strong franchisor”, says Konrad. In his new role Konrad will, together with CBF Management team, continue to lead the CBF assignments and direction, building a strong franchisor within the IKEA franchise System. CBF will continue to build capabilities and organisation, ensure focus on common priorities, and contribute to the IKEA Direction and the One IKEA Business Plan. A special thanks to the fantastic speakers for sharing their insights and their strategies on how to move forward. Yesterday’s third and last webinar in the NordicCE2020 -What’s next series is summed up by following key takeaways:
- Despite the challenging times of COVID-19 and related economic decline, we need tool ensure that the recovery on the EU level is focused on advancing digital and sustainable transition
- European Commission is aware that it has a big role to play creating regulatory framework enabling such transition, building more resilient European Union that can be prosperous and reach its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050
- The European Commission is busy putting together a plan to help the EU economy recover from the COVID-19 crisis and its release is planned for 27th May. It will also include various financial instruments, social tools and employment boost programs
- Green Deal will play an important role in the economic recovery. Farm to Fork strategy aiming on making the the food system more healthy and sustainable as well as strategy to protect biodiversity have been launched last week and Circular Economy Action plan already in March 2020
- The Nordic ambassadors presented their respective country’s strategies and initiatives such as updated roadmap towards Circular Economy in Finland, commitment to electrification and product design in Norway, Circular Economy policy in Sweden and building two large green energy islands in Denmark
- The recovery and shaping the green future based on renewable energy and circular economy is not limited by the EU borders, collaboration among nations is needed to ensure a thriving planet for us all
