Handcrafted collections and products produced in collaborations with social businesses are sold in IKEA stores worldwide. Today, IKEA announces scaling up social entrepreneurship business with the ambition to reach 95,000 jobs by 2025.

The ability to earn an income also has a direct and positive effect on nearly 150,000 family members of these artisans today. To be for even more of the many, IKEA has taken the decision to extend the scope and the goal is to increase the number of jobs from today’s 30,000 jobs to 95,000 until 2025. “I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished, but I know that we can do much more. We have built strong business relationship with our partners for many years, and now we are happy to join hands with a few additional highly established social businesses, and together we will be scaling up the social entrepreneur business,” says Vaishali Misra, Business Leader, IKEA Social Entrepreneurs Initiative. IKEA will extend the business together with existing partners, supporting with knowledge and expertise around design, production and working environment. In addition to this, new scalable partners will be identified as social business partners to IKEA and create positive change for more people. As a result, more jobs will be created, and IKEA will increase the offering of high quality, handmade and unique design enabled through craft traditional techniques products in the stores worldwide. “It’s a working relationship on inspiration, knowledge sharing, and mutual exchange of competencies. The social entrepreneurs ensure a diverse and unique product offer. On its part, IKEA uses its network to supply the enterprises with affordable, high-quality raw material, extending their infrastructure to the social enterprises. By doing this on a high scale, we could also inspire other retailers to do the same. That’s what I call impact!” says Vaishali Misra. At IKEA.today you will find an in-depth overview of the initiative, while making ambitious commitments for the future. PRESS RELEASE
Municipality of Amsterdam Extends Electronic Invoicing Contract with Swedish Chamber Patron Member TIE Kinetix
Thousands more suppliers will be connected to the FLOW platform
, a leader in business-to-government (B2G) electronic invoicing, announced today that the Municipality of Amsterdam has extended their four-year contract for an additional three years. The extension indicates that thousands more of the municipality’s suppliers will be onboarded to the FLOW Partner Automation platform during the contract period.
“We first began our relationship with the Municipality of Amsterdam back in 2017, shortly before all public authorities in the Netherlands were legally obligated to receive and process electronic invoices,” says Jan Sundelin, CEO, TIE Kinetix. “We’re proud to have supported the municipality with their digitalization efforts, and we’re looking forward to making even more progress in the coming three years.”
As of May 27th, 2020, the Municipality of Amsterdam decided to make electronic invoicing mandatory in their buying terms. This obligation aims to further reduce processing speed and cost by virtue of invoice automation, resulting in increased efficiency and quicker turnaround for the municipality and its suppliers. As a Dutch company with an abundance of local e-invoicing knowledge and a network of over 600 government organizations in the Benelux area alone, TIE Kinetix is a preferred service provider.
To simplify the transition to e-invoicing, TIE Kinetix provides a variety of options for suppliers to connect to the FLOW platform: EDI-2-FLOW, PDF-2-FLOW, and PORTAL-2-FLOW. In accordance with individual business needs, suppliers may choose to send invoices electronically, via email (in PDF format or other), or through an online portal respectively. The company also provides a wide range of services and support to ensure a smooth onboarding process, including the option to run fully automated onboarding campaigns with active follow up. An added benefit for suppliers is that the company is ISO 27001 certified and serves as an official PEPPOL Access Point.
This agreement with the Municipality of Amsterdam marks the first of two allotted three-year extension periods. The municipality will have the option to enter an additional three-year extension period in 2024.
