Tech for Good: Sustainable Innovation at Saint-Gobain Ecophon

Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at Saint-Gobain Ecophon’s Dutch operations. We’ll begin at Saint-Gobain Isover’s factory, where you’ll witness the world’s first hybrid glass wool furnace in operation – reducing CO₂ emissions by 55% through its innovative 50% electric design.

Transitioning to Saint-Gobain Ecophon, discover how acoustics contribute to healthier built environments. You’ll be introduced to our CarbonLow ceiling systems (with 43% lower CO₂ footprint), learn about our SoundCircularity recycling program active in the Netherlands, and experience an interactive VR demonstration showing how sound impacts human well-being in spaces like hospitals, offices, and classrooms.

The visit takes place at Saint-Gobain Ecophon, Parallelweg 17, Etten-Leur with free on-site parking. To maintain an engaging experience, attendance is limited to 30 guests. Our business unit manager, Johanna Westera, will host the session; with one of our concept developers, Cees van Wezel, presenting on sustainability and good acoustics. We will be closing off with a networking lunch.

Johanna Westera is your host for today at Saint-Gobain Ecophon. With both Swedish and Dutch roots, Johanna brings a unique international perspective to her role as Business Unit Manager. She’s passionate about creating environments that sound as good as they look – something at the heart of what Ecophon stands for. Johanna has spent her career building strong teams and leading change, always with a focus on making things happen. Whether working in the construction or medical industries, in Sweden or the Netherlands, she brings energy, clarity, and a sharp sense of strategy to everything she does. She’s fluent in Swedish as well as Dutch and English. Today, she’s looking forward to showing you around, sharing ideas, and hearing your thoughts on how we can build better spaces together.

Cees van Wezel, Concept Developer Education/Well AP

Cees van Wezel is a Concept Developer at Ecophon who approaches acoustics from a human perspective. With a background in psychology and a specialization in environmental psychology from Surrey, UK, Cees has always been curious about what drives us as people—and how our surroundings shape our wellbeing, health, and behavior. Where traditional acoustics often focus on physics, measurements, and soundwaves, Cees starts with perception: how we experience sound and space. For him, acoustics is not just science—it’s also about emotion, comfort, and connection. This blend of hard and soft aspects is what makes room acoustics so fascinating, especially in healthcare environments, where sound can directly impact recovery, safety, and the wellbeing of both patients and medical staff. Cees is passionate about raising awareness of the role acoustics can play in creating healthier spaces. He’s proud to be part of the movement Ecophon has championed for years—and invites you to be part of it too.
