Get to Know: team5pm

In each issue of Swedish Chamber Insights, readers will have the opportunity to get to know one of our members better. This month, we spoke with Jelmer Wind, CEO, and Frank de Wit, Managing Director, at team5pm about their data-driven approach to content creation, strategic vision, and future ambitions as members of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce.

As a member of the Swedish Chamber, can you give us a brief overview of your company, the services you offer, and the sector you operate in?

team5 pm is a data-driven social agency. We help brands navigate an increasingly complex and competitive digital landscape with effective content. By combining data with creativity, we create content that resonates with audiences and their behaviours across all platforms—whether it’s content creation for YouTube or TikTok, digital-first commercials, influencer marketing, or integrated creative campaigns.

Starting as a local Amsterdam agency in 2018, we have since grown into an international company with 135 people and offices in Amsterdam, Stockholm, Cape Town, and Warsaw. Our global network of clients includes Prime Video, ING, KPN, Gymgrossisten, and SPP. Our work has received international recognition at awards like The YouTube Works, The Webbys, Global Search Awards, and The European Video Awards, among others.

For those who are new to team5pm, can you explain what sets your company apart in the field of content creation and digital marketing? What are the core principles and strategies that drive
your success?

We take the guesswork out of marketing and create content that drives results. While others focus on mass data and trends, we help brands find the sweet spot where they can be the most effective and impactful, using platform-specific knowledge and consumer social search and viewing behaviour insights.

What also sets us apart is that we are international and 360-degree when it comes to content. We have expertise across both platforms and markets, and this makes us the ultimate partner for the modern CMO, who needs an agency partner who can take one overarching idea or concept and efficiently apply it across all channels.

How has team5pm’s strategic vision evolved with the changing media landscape and new technologies, and how do you manage to balance innovation with cost-efficiency?

There are several developments impacting us as an agency and the industry. An obvious one is of course AI, which allows us to streamline processes and enhance content production and editing. However, the most significant shift affecting our direction as an agency is the move towards social.

With linear TV viewing on the decline, even among older generations, brands need to find new ways to reach their mass audiences. This poses a challenge because audiences are now scattered across various platforms, each with its own characteristics. Brands require an agency partner capable of managing marketing across platforms and understanding the nuances of today’s user behaviours — which is why our vision is centred on being social-first.

We are redefining advertising in a social-first world, helping brands engage their audiences on different channels in the same way TV once did.

How does team5pm foresee the evolution of content creators in the next 5-10 years, and what steps are you taking to stay ahead of future trends?

The predictive power of search will be central to the evolution of content creation in the coming years. Nearly 40% of 18- to 24-year-olds use video platforms like TikTok and YouTube as their primary search engines, according to 2022 data from Google. A more recent study from Forbes reveals that a quarter of people discover brands on social media daily.

This shows that our search behaviour is evolving. As people increasingly turn to social platforms for information, social SEO will grow in importance for both brands and content creators. By understanding audience search behaviour on social media, creators can tailor their content to be more relevant and engaging, thus achieving better results. In response to this development, we created our own video SEO tool called Topictree. This technology tracks and analyzes view and search behaviour data, helping brands and creators identify what topics and content their audience wants to see—now, tomorrow, and in the future.

What upcoming events in the Swedish Chamber calendar are you most excited to attend, or perhaps organize, and who do you hope to meet there?

Although we are a Dutch origin company, we have our Swedish presence that makes the event Discover the Power of Brand Sweden, hosted by Volvo, very interesting for us.
