At the Annual General Meeting of Grand Hôtel’s Winter Garden on March 27, 56-year-old Carina Åkerström takes over after Anders Bouvin and becomes Handelsbanken’s first female CEO.

Chairman Pär Boman puts strong faith in her ability to solve tasks “not only a little better but also a little faster” than what you have expected.

So how did she go all the way to the top from having, after a law degree at Lund University and language studies at the Sorbonne in Paris, mostly moved home to Kalmar and started working extra at Handelsbanken in 1986?
