Key Take-Away’s from the Clothes Swap Day – Conscious Consumption
During the Young Professionals Clothes Swap Day on March 23rd, we had the pleasure to engage in the topic of Conscious Consumption together with Andrea Orsag from MissionC. Andrea is a Sustainability and Circular Economy Evangelist and during this event, she shared her inspiring point of view on sustainable fashion. The participants got insights into the current impacts of the fashion industry and during the evening a discussion was held about what you can do yourself to take action. Key takeaways  The fashion industry accounts for:
  • 10% of global CO2 emissions
  • 20% of global water consumption
  • 100 billion produced clothing items every year, where 80% of the apparel is made by women younger than 24 years old
The fashion industry inevitably has a significant impact on our planet and its people, where the following question may arise; How is it possible to keep fashion and personal branding fun and sustainable at the same time?  Andrea shared the following tips on what individuals can do:

  Did you know?  An average person wears 20% of their clothes 80% of the time. This suggests that there is a lot of room to share, re-wear, and swap clothes that would otherwise just take up space in your wardrobe. By learning together and encouraging new innovative ways of enjoying fashion, more sustainable consumption patterns will evolve. The Young Professionals wish to thank Andrea Orsag for her inspiration and insights. Have you ever thought about investing time in yourself, and develop in a Mentorship Experience? Welcome to join this YP Afterwork and learn more! On April 13, we are excited to get insights into Mentorship Experiences when listening to Hendrik Jan Guitink, mentor and leader, and Malin k. Petrocchi, former Mentee in the beginning/mid-stage of her career. Malin and Hendrik will share their experiences about mentorship and why it has been valuable to them. The talk will be approximately 20 minutes, and after we will of course have time to ask questions, network and have drinks together! This event will take place at the nice venues of our collaboration partner PRLab, at Herengracht 252, 1016 BV Amsterdam. Welcome to Clothes Swap Day- Conscious Consumption
*The Young Professionals of the Swedish Chamber, welcomes you to engage in this collaboration Afterwork with Edge Olympic, on the topic of Sustainable Fashion and Conscious Consumption on March 23, 2023, from 17:00-20:00! At this event, you are welcome to give some of your favorite fashion pieces a second life whilst finding new additions to your wardrobe. The event will be featuring a discussion on Sustainable Fashion with Andrea Orsag, you can get tips from stylist Silvia Cosma and there will of course be drinks and mingling! Keep updated on Social Media where more information will be launched very shortly. Clothes Swap Information • Welcome to bring office wear suitable for spring • Make sure to bring clean clothes of quality rather than quantity that you are happy to swap • Drop-off is possible from February 21 – March 22 in the reception at Edge Olympic, from Monday to Friday between 08:00-18:00 • We strongly encourage you to drop your clothes in advance. However, if you do not have the possibility to drop off your clothes prior to the event, you may bring them on the event day March 23, from 17:00. The official event start time is 18:00. • When you drop off clothes you will get tickets to “buy” clothes at the market. • Clothes that are not swapped will be given to the charity Dress for Success.
