On April 21, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the Netherlands hosted the Executive Sustainability Breakfast 2026 at the Swedish Ambassador’s Residence in The Hague.

The morning brought together leading voices in sustainability and industry, including H.E. Ambassador of Sweden, Mr. Julius Liljeström, Erik Vegter (Programme Director of the National Growth Fund programme Growing with Green Steel), and Marnix van Alphen (Energy Transition Manager at Vattenfall). Discussions focused on how collaboration, innovation, and system change are shaping the future of sustainable industry.

Key topics included the transformation of the Dutch steel sector into a resilient and future-proof industry, with particular attention to circularity, recycling, reuse, and workforce development. The session also addressed the broader energy transition and highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration between business, academia, and policymakers in accelerating sustainable progress.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the Netherlands Sustainability Scholarship 2026 – Powered by Saab to Marten Reuvekamp. The scholarship supports emerging sustainability leaders in Sweden and the Netherlands, promoting innovation, academic excellence, and long-term bilateral collaboration.

The event also welcomed Lotte Nijhof, recipient of the 2025 scholarship, who presented this year’s award—marking a meaningful moment that underscored the continuity and impact of the initiative.

We thank all participants for their valuable contributions to this engaging and insightful discussion.
