Joerie Nijhuis is the co-founder of IT’S UP TO YOU

With a background in business strategy and experiential learning, he leverages lifelike interactive simulations that enable participants to experiment with behavior in a safe and controlled environment, leading to deep insights, engagement, and lasting impact. His journey began in the education sector, where he developed an interactive film to address bullying. Used by over 350,000 children, the simulation allowed participants to experiment with actions and consequences without real-world risk. In a subsequent group reflection, they translated the insights gained into actionable behavioral change. This scientifically validated methodology was first accredited in 2013 by the Dutch Youth Institute and later recognized by the Knowledge Platform Inclusive Collaboration in 2024. It remains the foundation of his work today. Now, Joerie advises organizations on how to apply this approach to challenges such as cultural transformation, team dynamics, and leadership development. Previously, he spent more than a decade at Accenture, helping senior leaders drive innovation and digital transformation. He is a recognized speaker and was named one of Culture Amp’s global Top 25 Culture Creators for 2025.

Emily Hinks, Founder & CEO of Mischief Makers

As Founder and CEO of the trailblazing future of work agency Mischief Makers, and the vision behind the non-profit Routes In, Emily’s luminary expertise lie in facilitative leadership and experience design for the future of work. Infamous for her infectious energy and collaboration mastery, Emily and her team are the secret sauce for industry giants like, Spotify, Netflix, IDEO and The UN. Her global work has ranged from bringing Human Centered Design to the heart of the UAE government to creating impact-driven mentorship programs across Europe for Soho House. As a Female Founder with ADHD, recognized as one of the top 50 influential Neurodivergent women in 2022, advocacy and shaking up the status quo is woven into all that she does. A sought-after speaker, for her unique, engaging and interactive style - Emily has brought her pioneering perspectives to stages such as The Guggenheim, TNW and Cannes Lions alongside global podcasts and publications.

Leon Kanters Partner, KPMG Meijburg & Co Trade & Customs

Leon has been advising on trade and customs issues for more than 25 years. His clients are many and varied and include director-major shareholders (DMS), and multinationals operating in various sectors such as the chemical, automotive, fashion, pharmaceutical, food and drink, and electronics industries. He has extensive experience in the field of excise duties, private motor vehicle and motorcycle tax, trade compliance and export control. Before joining Meijburg & Co in 1995, Leon worked for the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. He is frequently involved with international customs planning and customs compliance (SASP certificates and rulings on customs value). Leon is chairperson of the Customs Committee of the VNO-NCW, the largest employer's organization in the Netherlands. He has litigated extensively before Dutch judicial bodies and before the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg. Leon regularly organizes seminars on trade and customs issues and is also a frequent speaker at various conferences and seminars. Since 2004, he has been chairperson of KPMG’s Trade & Customs practices in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This has enabled him to gain valuable international experience.

M.H.M. (Marlies) Baijer, Senior Tax Manager Meijburg & Co Tax Lawyers (Dutch member of KPMG International)

Marlies joined Meijburg & Co in 2012. She is an all-round tax advisor with extensive experience in the Dutch and international tax practice. Marlies has in-depth knowledge of Dutch corporate and income tax. She focuses specifically on family businesses, privately-owned businesses and high-net worth individuals. She serves a wide range of clients, amongst which numerous family-owned enterprises and international groups with an economic function in the Netherlands. Her clients are active in several markets. Her advisory style is practical, pro-active and problem solving. In addition to her day-to-day work, Marlies is a committee member of YIN (Young IFA Network; International Fiscal Association) and Women in Control, Meijburg & Co’s inclusive network.
