On November 24, 2022, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce had the honor to invite its Members to an Executive Breakfast Meeting at the Swedish Residence in the Hague featuring Peter van der Poel, Managing Director, Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group (largest owner and operator of IKEA retail in the IKEA franchise).
Peter leads the investment agenda and was sharing how he and his teams are carefully balancing Ingka’s investment activities that contribute to the financial resilience of the company, the development, and innovation of the retail business and Ingka Centers – with the ambition to have a positive impact on people and our planet.
The Swedish Chamber would like to thank Peter van der Poel for a very interesting and inspiring presentation, we would also like to thank H.E. Ambassador Johannes Oljelund for a warm welcome and a delicious breakfast at his beautiful residence as well as all participants for making this event into a great success.

Peter van der Poel, Managing Director Ingka Investments
Peter van der Poel is Managing Director for Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group (largest owner and operator of IKEA retail in the IKEA franchise). In this role, he leads the investment agenda, carefully balancing Ingka’s investment activities that contribute to the financial resilience of the company, the development, and innovation of the retail business and Ingka Centres – with the ambition to have a positive impact on people and our planet. Peter’s IKEA journey started in the IKEA store in Delft, Netherlands, and later became Sales Manager for IKEA Netherlands. He worked in the Dutch retail organization for several years before joining IKEA of Sweden (part of franchisor Inter IKEA) as a Business Area Manager, moving to Älmhult in Sweden, where IKEA has its roots. Before his current position, Peter was IKEA Range and Supply Manager and Managing Director of IKEA of Sweden where for the past five years he was responsible for the product range and business development, supporting all IKEA markets around the world. Peter is known for his inspiring and culture-driven leadership style geared to people and business development and a strong entrepreneurial mindset. Peter holds an MBA from The Hague University. He is married, has three children, and is based in the Netherlands. In his free time, he likes walking his dog, reading, and sports. At this Executive Breakfast Meeting, we would like to reflect on the outcome of the COP27 Conference taking place earlier in the same month in Sharm-El Sheikh. A lot has happened in the world since COP26 in Glasgow 2021 and therefore we are looking forward to reflecting on the outcomes of the COP27 conference and the road ahead together with our Keynote speaker, Peter van der Poel, Ingka Investments.
