IKEA 80th anniversary – Assembling a better future, together.
On 28 July 1943, Ingvar Kamprad, then only 17 years old, founded IKEA in the small town of Älmhult in Småland, Sweden. Now, IKEA is celebrating 80 years of entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and co-creation with a curious, humble, and positive outlook for the future.
In the beginning, IKEA was a small mail-order business where orders were filled by a teenage Ingvar on his bicycle. The brand is now represented in 62 markets with 462 IKEA touchpoints, 700 million physical customer visits, 2.6 billion online visits, and more than 20 million IKEA app downloads*. The team of 231,000 IKEA co-workers worldwide helps create a better everyday life for the many people.

Saab offers four Expeditionary Submarines to the Netherlands
Supported by Sweden and the United Kingdom, Saab has today submitted its proposal for the replacement of Netherland’s current submarines. The proposal comprises four advanced Expeditionary Submarines with the latest innovations and technologies and includes a cooperation with Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Group.
Saab’s offered solution is based on a successful, proven and future-proof design. It will incorporate the latest capabilities and technologies, whilst its truly modular design will allow for new technologies as they evolve to ensure relevance for many years to come.
Saab and Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Group have cooperated since 2015 and the offer to build submarines to replace the Dutch Walrus-class is a balanced cooperation between the Netherlands and Sweden.
“The outstanding capabilities of the Expeditionary Submarine C718 meets and exceeds the Dutch needs and requirements long-term. Our offer constitutes a substantial contribution to the operational capability of the Dutch Defence Forces. Cooperation with local industry throughout the programme secures strategic autonomy for the Netherlands. These are Dutch submarines for the Royal Netherlands Navy,” says Mats Wicksell, Senior Vice President and head of Saab’s business area Kockums.

H.E. Ambassador Johannes Oljelund, speaker at the Business Climate Survey the Netherlands 2023 presentation
Exciting news! The Swedish Ambassador of the Netherlands Johannes Oljelund will be taking part in the panel discussions at the launch of the Business Climate Survey Netherlands on September 7, 2023. The survey is a collaboration between the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Business Sweden and will be held at the Swedish Embassy in the Hague. Oljelund has been serving as the ambassador for Sweden since the autumn of 2021, and we are very excited to get his perspective on topics such as how Swedish companies operate in the Netherlands, economic development, success factors, local conditions, and challenges regarding sustainability.

The Business Climate Survey is presented jointly by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Business Sweden and hosted at the Swedish Embassy in the Hague.
As the CEO of Ericsson Netherlands and with over 25 years of experience in the telecom sector, Everth will bring knowledgeable insight to the discussions. In addition, Everth is both a Board Member and a Member of the Innovation and Tech Committee at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce.
This year, the Business Climate Survey has been conducted in over 23 countries worldwide.

Annika Ölme, Key note speaker at Diversity in Tech
We are happy to present Annika Ölme as one of the keynote speakers for our Diversity in Tech event, which takes place September 14, 2023, in collaboration with SKF. Annika is the Chief Technology Officer at SKF, and she shares the company's ambition to work actively with equality and diversity in the tech industry.
More specifically, SKF aims to "enhance targeted leadership programmes for women, enable reverse and traditional mentorship initiatives, maintain diversity trainings for all leaders in the organization, and recruit with support from our recruitment policies". SKF aligns these ambitions with the relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals: gender equality (nr 5), reduced inequalities (nr 8), and decent work and economic growth (nr 10).
We are so excited that Annika will come to the Netherlands to tell us more about how she practically works towards these goals.
