Event Recap: European Leaders Talk Series
On April 8, 2025, we kicked off the European Leaders Talk series with a high-level session on EU competitiveness and the role of international business. The event marked a strong start to the new initiative, and Filip Tendal Kanold, Trainee at Swedish Chambers International and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, shares a summary from the session:   Dear SCI members, A big thanks to everyone who joined us for the first session of the European Leaders Talk series – and a special shout-out to Chambre de Commerce Suédoise en France for making it happen, and to Daniella Waldfogel and Stockholm Chamber of Commerce for moderating and organising. We were honoured to kick things off with Fredrik Persson, President of BusinessEurope, who gave a sharp and honest take on the state of EU competitiveness. He highlighted the gap between the EU and the US in growth and investment, and outlined clear priorities: smarter regulation, faster permitting, lower energy costs, and more strategic partnerships—especially in an increasingly tense global trade environment. Fredrik also underscored the vital role international chambers play in supporting European business abroad, and encouraged more Swedes to get involved in EU institutions to help shape the policies that affect us all. We had a great turnout, and the questions and conversation that followed brought real energy and depth to the session. This was the kickoff of our new European Leaders Talk series, inspired by the successful CEO Talks in APAC. The aim is to bring in high-level voices shaping Europe’s economic, political, and industrial landscape—and we’re already looking forward to the next one. It was also a perfect example of what makes SCI strong—cross-border collaboration and shared learning that benefits the whole network. We look forward to continuing this exciting new initiative together.

Event Recap: Diversity & Inclusion Breakfast: Neurodiversity
Last month, on March 26, 2025, we gathered at SKF Houten for a thought-provoking morning focused on neuro-inclusion in the workplace. The session sparked meaningful discussions and offered invaluable insights into how we can foster a more inclusive work environment. Yves Nys, Global Well-Being, Diversity, and Inclusion Manager at SKF Group, shares a summary from the event: "Neuro-inclusion at work, turning stigma into strength", an inspiring keynote by Tristan Lavender at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the Netherlands' diversity breakfast event at SKF Houten. It's time for business leaders to unlock the hidden potential within every individual, often right before our eyes. Neurodiversity too often still remains a blind spot for many organisations, but what it takes is just starting the conversation, asking the right questions and refraining from assumptions. Tristan leads by example, paving the way for others, sharing his personal story and professional journey with authenticity and vulnerability. Thank you, Tristan, also on behalf of our D&I Committee members and SKF, for creating a safe space where business leaders started sharing their own stories within minutes. It was truly magical to witness. This is the essence of human-centric leadership, unlocking the strengths within people, society and business.

Earth Day
Today, April 22, is Earth Day. It is a day to raise awareness of environmental issues. The theme for Earth Day 2025 is 'Our Power, Our Planet', focusing on renewable energy. Renewable energy could be power generated from water, wind or the sun, or any other source that is replenished through a natural process. The share of renewable energy used in Sweden keeps growing. Sweden has a rich supply of moving water and biomass, which contributes to the country’s high share of renewable energy. Hydropower (water) and bioenergy are the top renewable sources in Sweden – hydropower mostly for electricity production and bioenergy for heating.   Source of information: Sharing Sweden
